Martin relaxing at the start of the day
The strong winds on Tuesday had gone but we were still left with a lively westerly. The K8 stayed in the hangar but the other toys came out. With all the fettling going on (Rowland and Martin S on replacing vehicle exhaust, Ken H and Tony P on new launch point, Colin on new winch) it was past midday before the first launch. Only modest launches on offer given the cross wind but if you were lucky enough to catch a thermal straight off the launch (and the skill to climb faster than the drift) so good climbs to 3,500 were on offer. Of the 14 launches 4 were 45 minutes or longer with Paul B taking top dog slot with exactly one hour. As the afternoon progressed the wind did back giving us significantly higher launches but the thermal opportunities got less.
