Located on top of the downs in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Shalbourne enjoys excellent soaring from thermals and our North-facing ridge. It is a large, safe site and ideally placed for good local soaring and cross-country flights.
The club is easily accessible from the M4 and M3 and less than an hour from
most major towns in the area. We are cleared to launch by winch to 3,000
feet. Please note that powered aircraft and powered gliders are strictly prohibited
from this site.

When you visit by car or on foot, follow the instructions displayed at the
gate. This will lead you safely to where the gliders are launching. Remember,
technically the airfield is ALWAYS active, even at night when military helicopters
may use the field. Always keep a good look-out for aircraft, vehicles and
cables. If in doubt wait to be escorted.
